Sensual Delight: Chronicle of a Shopping Spree*

The sight of me wearing an empire cut blouse with a square neckline in black with gray swirls, with a red ribbon on the mirror in the dressing room. The puffed sleeves reach my elbows and the hem is mid-thigh. Impulsively bought at Off the Wall with a 50% discount. About 11 dollars.

The feel of my new reversible cotton pink cap--with flowers and stripes--on my head as I walked home. Also 50% off. 6 bucks.

The smell of zestini and rougeberry on my wrists, from the set of Invent your Scent at The Body Shop. Comes to 36 something. A reviewer said that unlike other perfumes on the market, it didn't make her sneeze. I'm sold!

The sound of The Weakerthans' album Reconstruction Site. "Fire every phrase. They don't want to work for us anymore. Dot and dash our days. Make your face the flag of a semaphore." The poetry resonates behind the simple melodies. 20.33 Canadian dollars. I had to control my yearning to buy the rest of the albums. Next payday perhaps.

The taste of a pack of veggie crisps that I bought on a whim, 3.99 plus tax. And my dad's mushroom soup with chicken and potatoes for lunch.

* I had a hundred dollar budget, and even considering the unexpected, I didn't go over it. I told myself it was like how I used to go bookshop/school supplies store hopping with four thousand pesos in my pocket. Bliss, with guilt not allowed to taint it. And no books/school supplies in the bag.
